Three Minute Thesis (MT180)

Communicating years of research in just 3 minutes, with the aim of captivating the audience: such is the challenge taken up by doctoral candidates across France for the Three Minute Thesis competition. A concentrated blend of suspense, emotion and discovery, in a festive and convivial atmosphere.

MT180 allows doctoral candidates to present their research topic, in French and in plain language, to a diverse audience. Each student must deliver, in three minutes, a clear, concise, and yet compelling presentation of their research project.

This competition is inspired by Three Minute Thesis ( (Opens a new window) 3MT®), conceived at the University of Queensland in Australia.

The concept was taken up in 2012 in Quebec by the Francophone Association for Knowledge ( (Opens a new window) Acfas), which sought to extend the project to all French-speaking countries.

In France, MT180 is organized by France Universités and the CNRS.
